Nod for refurbishing sulabh toilets in Margao at `83.77 L

There’s good news in store for citizens using the Sulabh toilet in the commercial capital. 

The government has accorded administrative approval to the Margao Municipal Council for utilising an amount of Rs 83.77 lakh towards the refurbishment of toilets under 14 Finance Commission Grants. 

The works, which will be executed through M/s Sulabh International Social Service Organisation, includes refurbishment of the two Sulabh Shauchalaya toilets at Moti Dongor, refurbishment of six-seater Sulabh Shauchalaya complex near Krishna Temple, Calconda and the refurbishment of six-seater Sulabh Shauchalaya complex at Pedda, Margao. The work also includes repair of three-seater toilet block at Dawood Chawl at an estimated cost of Rs 2.51 lakh at Khareband, Margao.

The grants are sanctioned as per the proposal received from the Chief Officer. Margao Municipal Council vide letter No. MMC/TECH/RG/G-108/2021-22/1747 dated 22/10/2021.

Director of Municipal Administration Gurudas Pilarnekar has asked the Margao Municipal Council to follow all the Codal formalities and financial rules under GFR and procedure laid down by the government from time to time.

The MMC Chief Officer has been directed to take up the works as per the guidelines for release and utilisation of grants recommended by Fourteenth Finance Commission (FC-XIV) for Urban Local Bodies.
